ABOUT RAINWATER HARVESTING
In 2021, Bramac began installing rainwater harvesting systems to help homeowners make efficient use of natural resources.
These systems collect rainwater from your roof and store it in above-ground or underground tanks for later use. During periods of drought, the tanks can also be filled by water delivery — and because the water remains contained, none is lost to the dry ground.

For those who wish to use their collected water for drinking, we offer simple and effective filtration setups that are easy to manage and maintain at home.

HOW IT WORKS
Rainwater is captured from your roof and directed into the system through gutters and downspouts.

A built-in pre-filter removes leaves, grit, and other debris before the water enters your storage tank, keeping the water clean and reducing maintenance. Any collected debris is safely diverted through an overflow, away from your stored water.

The system efficiently manages rainwater during all weather conditions and can even accept delivered water during dry periods, ensuring every drop stays stored and ready for use.

FILTRATION
Bramac's rainwater systems can be connected to simple, effective setups to ensure water is clean and safe for its intended use. For non-potable applications, basic sediment and carbon filters keep water free of debris and improve taste and clarity.

If potable water is desired, additional treatment options such as UV disinfection can be integrated, providing safe drinking water right at home. The filtration systems are designed for easy maintenance, allowing homeowners to manage their filter changes and upkeep with minimal efforts.

BENEFITS OF RAINWATER HARVESTING
Rainwater harvesting gives you control over your water supply, ensuring every drop you collect or deliver stays stored and ready for use. Unlike drilled or dug wells, there's no uncertainty — you don't have to hope for water at the expected depth or risk low yields.

Even small amounts of rain, or morning dew, can be captured from your roof — a standard 1,000 sq ft roof can collect over 600 gallons from just one inch of rain! This makes every roof a potential water source, no matter the season.

The system also reduces reliance on municipal water, saves money, and provides an environmentally friendly, reliable source of water for your home and property.
FINANCING
Bramac offers flexible financing options to help make rainwater harvesting accessible for your home. For residents of some municipalities, they are offering Upgrade Lending Programs upwards of $20,000 with low interest rates around 2%. Check your local municipality to see if this program is offered for you.

With droughts becoming increasingly common each summer, this is a great opportunity to invest in an efficient, environmentally friendly, and reliable solution to secure your water supply.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. How much does a rainwater harvesting system cost?
The cost depends on a few factors — such as your location, tank size, tank quantity, need for excavation, and how you plan to use the water. Each site is unique, so we design every system to meet your property's specific needs and water demands. Please reach out to us by phone or e-mail to discuss your plans for rainwater harvesting then we can book a site visit.

2. Is rainwater harvesting reliable during droughts?
Yes! With properly sized storage tanks, your system is guaranteed — even when rainfall is low. You can also choose to have your tanks filled when needed, so you'll never lose water to the dry ground like with a traditional well.

3. Is it cheaper than drilling a well?
In many cases, yes — especially when you factor in the cost of drilling and the possibility of not getting any water. Rainwater systems are a guaranteed source of water, without the risk of coming up dry.

4. What can I use to harvest rainwater for?
Collected rainwater can be used for flushing toilets, laundry, irrigation, washing vehicles, or even for whole home use with proper treatment and filtration.

5. Is financing available?
Yes. Bramac offers financing options, and some municipalities — like Yarmouth — offer very low-interest loan programs for cistern and rainwater system installations that can be taken out for upwards of 10-15 years.

6. Can rainwater be made safe for drinking?
Absolutely. With the right filtration and UV disinfection setup, rainwater can be treated to meet safe drinking water standards.

7. How long does installation take?
Most residential systems can be installed within a few days, depending on site preparation and system size.
